Split type solar water heaters are pressurized solar water heaters of which hot water storage tanks are separated from the solar collectors. Solar collectors will be ETC or flat type depending up on the area of installation. As the systems are pressure type, ETC tube will have copper tubes for operating under pressure conditions. Split type systems are further divided into direct and indirect type solar water heaters depending up on the operation strategy.

Solar heat collectors can be located on the roof or any other place where sunlight is available and the storage tank can be placed at a separate convenient location, as per the client requirements. However, it is advisable to keep the storage tank close to the solar collector to avoid thermal loss. Electrical backup, which is optional, will make sure hot water is available at all times. As the name indicates, the pressurized type solar water heaters will supply hot water with pressure.
