Areca Nuts containa large amount of tannins, gallic acid, gumplants, small amounts of volatile oils, lignin, and a variety of salts. There are four alkaloids found in nuts - Arecolin, Arecain, Guraxin and a substance that is unknowndue to too little amount. Arecolin is similar to Pilocarpine in terms of its effects on the body. Arecain is the main active ingredient in nuts.
