Baoji is township of the bronze, its realm Qishan Zhouyuan is the birthplace and capital site of Zhou Wang dynasty in ancient China. According to record, since the fourth year west Han Xuan Emperor(*4 *****), there are plenty of bronze unearthed unceasingly. The large quantity, fine quality, important posy contents are all top around the whole country. The unearthed bronze Si Muwu square ancient cooking vessel, Si Mukang square ancient cooking vessel, He Zun(one kind of container), cattle shape Zun, sheep shape Zun, father Xin Jue(the symbol of exalted), Zhegong(one kind of container) and so on, make Baoji won the fine reputation of “township of the Chinese bronze”. Because of the unique shape, fine decorative design, elegant engraved inscription, it has promulgated the casting craft, cultural level and historical source of pre-Qin period to the people, therefore it is called “a living history book” by the historians. The bronze was divided into farm tool, weapon, cooking vessel, drinking vessel, mixed vessel, musical instrument and so on six levels according to its main use. The history of imitating the bronze traced back to Song Dynasty, passed through Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty, its craft consummated, developed ceaselessly. The imitation craft is gradually maturing, until now it has achieved the high degree of proficiency situation. Chinese ancient copperware was the tremendous contribution of Chinese ancestor to the humanity material civilization. From the present archaeology material, Chinese copperware’s appearance was later than other places of the world, but speaking of the using scale, casting craft, plastic arts and the variety, no other copperware in the world can compare with Chinese. This also is one reason that Chinese ancient copperware holds unique status and causes generally recognition in the world art history.
