General Info:
Bacopa Monnieri is a perennial creeping herb whose habitat includes
wetlands and muddy shores. With its ability to grow in the ground
or under water, Bacopa is often used as an aquarium plant. Bacopa
is harvested in the fall and either powdered or made into an
extract best known as Brahmi which is widely used in India.
Bacopa contains many active constituents, including the alkaloids
brahmine and herpestine, the sapponins d-mannitol and hersaponin,
acid A, monnierin, betulic acid, stigmastarol, beta-sitosterol and
various bacosides and flavonoids including apigenin and luteolin.
Bacopa Monnieri has been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine
for centuries, to help promote healthy nervous and cardiovascular
systems. Bacopa Monnieri P.E. can be used in various applications
including dietary supplements.
