Our necklaces made of paper are made by women in Kampala, Uganda. The women who make these necklaces are from poor backgrounds who need extra money for the upkeep of their families. They have to provide shelter, food, clothing and, most importantly school fees for their children.

Most our necklaces are made by a group of women called Huruma Za Mama ( a Swahili phrase meaning "The Kindness of A Mother") Association. The name symbolizes the spirit of the work - that a mother can and will do anything to provide for her children. Many of the women are widows with children to take care of.

The necklaces are made from old magazines and craft paper. The tools required for making the necklaces are a pair of scissirs, a big needle or toothpick, a bottle of glue and vanish in many colours.
