nutritional status of various parts of the cattle can be
understood. In the breeding of beef cattle breeding farms, a key
process is to measure body weight and body size, and select those
with fast growth speed and good development to be used as breeding
bulls or cows. Common measurement items: body height, body oblique
length, body straight length, chest circumference, abdominal
circumference, cross height, etc.
The
traditional measurement method for measuring body measurements is
manual measurement. Commonly used measuring tools: measuring stick,
tape measure, and circular touch tester. This method has many
operators, high difficulty, low data accuracy, and some cows are
irritable and prone to injury, resulting in low measurement
efficiency.

Description
In order to further solve the difficulties
encountered in manual measurement, we adopt multimodal image fusion
and 3D point cloud computing technology to achieve non-contact
intelligent measurement of beef cattle body size, facilitating and
quickly obtaining body size data.
Equipment principle and operation
process:
An automatic detection device composed of an
infrared sensor array and a computer PC. The cattle detection
channel includes a horizontally arranged channel for cattle walking
and a fence symmetrically arranged on both sides of the channel.
Infrared sensors are vertically spaced on the fence at the front
end of the cattle detection channel to form an infrared sensor
array, and a depth camera is set above the animal detection channel
to shoot animals entering the animal detection
channel。
The circuit
structure of the automatic detection device is as follows: each
infrared sensor in the infrared sensor array transmits the received
infrared signal to the computer PC through its signal output
terminal through the corresponding I/O interface of the computer
PC. When the computer PC detects that the infrared signal emitted
by each infrared sensor changes from bottom to top, it is judged
that the cow has entered the detection channel, The computer PC
sends a control signal through its corresponding I/O interface to
control the depth camera to take photos of cows entering the
detection channel. The depth image information collected by the
depth camera is transmitted to the computer PC through its signal
output end through the corresponding I/O interface of the computer
PC, The computer PC transmits the cow's body size information to
the image analysis big data platform through wireless networks
based on the known height from the depth camera to the channel and
the depth image information collected by the depth camera. The
cow's body size information is transmitted to the output device
through the corresponding I/O interface of the computer
PC.
