It is typicaly made of ductile (nodular) iron, and crafted depending on the engine type and number of cylinders emploved. It has smooth curves in it for improving the flow of exhaust. The exhaust manifold is bolled to the cylinder head, and has entrance for the air that is injected into it is usually focated under the intake manifold. A header is a different type manifold which is made of sepatate equal-length tubes.
