Hoes

Hoes are perfect for removing large quantities of tiny weeds or deep tap-rooted weeds. We recommend using a hoe regularly to prevent weeds.

Scuffle hoes are great for large areas because of their push/pull action. The weeds can just left on the ground to compost in place. But there are SO many types, try your neighbors hoes out to see which ones feel best for you.

Transplanting Trowel

Gardening trowels have a scooped cross section to enable them to carry soil without spillage. They are an indispensable tool for planting and weeding. This one is my favorite because it's strong enough not to bend under pressure, it's big enough to hold some soil, has a pointy end that's great for cutting, and even measures how deeply you've dug!

There are variety of different shapes and sizes of trowel on the market suited to different functions. Narrow trowels are used for transplanting and weeding. Trowels with a pointed blade will perform better in harder soils.

Sickle

Sickles are clearing tools predominantly used for cutting away grass and weeds. A sickles can also be used to harvest grain crops and spinach.  The cutting motion of a scythe is a rotating, sweeping motion. Using a scythe makes no noise, no pollution, and, once you have mastered the art of using the tool, may well be quicker than using a power tool. Furthermore, scythes are less bulky to store and look infinitely more elegant.

 Sickles  is suitable for cutting plants of up to a year's growth, though is not suitable for cutting woody growth.

Shovel

Technically, the bodies and edges of shovels are rounded while those of spades are flat. So both are good for digging but the rounded shovels are best for carrying the soil but when the digging job is a big one. Whatever. I use them interchangeably, according to which has a short handle and which a long one, the long one afford good leverage for those deep digging tasks.
