Is Magnets safe for our pets?

Yes, in recent years, magnetic therapy for dogs has gained a large following among some pet owners. It is seen as a safe and simple method of treating various disorders, often producing positive results without side effects or much expense.


So how does magnetic therapy work?

It is generally believed that magnets work by means of magnetic lines of force; units called gauss measure the strength of the magnetic field. The higher the gauss number the stronger the magnet (a ***0 gauss magnet is ten times stronger than a **0 gauss magnet)

In canine medicine, magnets are often used to aid in fracture healing and in the treatment of many other ailments including arthritis, hip dysplasia, osteochondritis, epilepsy, pain relief, chronic organ disorders and vertebral disorders. Sprains and strains and other traumatic disorders may also benefit from magnetic therapy. Magnets should not be used in acute infectious conditions, on cancerous growths (although some doctors do find them useful in treating cancerous tumors), in acute injuries, pregnant animals, or in dogs with cardiac pacemakers.
 

Our magnetic pet beds are made using a quilted polyester fiber padding on top. The second layer is .*5” of Visco “memory” foam placed on top of the magnets. Visco Foam was developed for N.A.S.A, has a firm surface that will mold to the body for deep comfort and support. Older arthritic dogs will find comfort and relief in the warmth and support offered by the same high-quality memory foam used in our mattresses. The magnets are .*5”x.*5 ceramic discs. The Ceramic magnets have a ***0 gauss strength surface rating. The bottom layer also uses polyester fiber padding quilted to our non-skid fabric backing. A washable, attractive cover is included, made in a fitted sheet style for easy removal. The Covers are available in both Poly-cotton Plaid and Shearling Poly-Lambs wool.
