Mechanical treatment of wastewater is a preparatory stage before a
thorough cleaning of drains. Mechanical treatment objective is to
extract from water suspended insoluble solids, fibers and coarse
impurities.
The following equipment is recommended for use for mechanical
cleaning:
drum screen;
belt filters.
Physico- chemical treatment is removal of fine particles and
dissolved inorganic impurities, the destruction of organic and
poorly oxidizable substances.
For physical-chemical treatment it is recommended to use the
following equipment:
pressure flotators;
lamella clarifiers.
