Monosodium phosphate anhydrous occurs as white crystalline powder or granules. It melts at **0℃, decomposes to form sodium acid pyrophosphate when heated up to ******0℃ and to form sodium metaphosphates when heated up to ******0℃. It is freely soluble in water but insoluble in alcohol and the pH of 1:**0 aqueous solution is between 4.1 and 4.7.  It is slightly hydroscopic.

Applications

Boiler water treatment; Electroplating; Raw material for production of sodium hexa metaphosphate and polyphosphates; Production of detergents and metal cleaner; Auxiliary for dyestuffs and precipitating agent for pigments; Acidity buffering agent; Production of baking powder. In foodstuff industry used as buffer, emulsifier, texturizer, nutrient and acidulant. In pharmaceutical industry used for production of tablet stimulant and fruit salt.
