Natural Gypsum is Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate (CaSO4.2H2O) deposited in sedimentary layers on the sea bed. Under high pressure and temperature Gypsum turns into Anhydrite (CaSO4). Natural Gypsum/Anhydrite are produced from open-cast mines, or underground mines. Natural Gypsum is normally only screened to remove fines (mainly mudstones), then crushed and finely ground for various applications. Natural Gypsum is an indispensable component of Ordinary Portland Cement as it has a great influence on water consumption of standard consistence and strength simultaneously. During the cement manufacturing process, 4%*6% of Natural Gypsum (by weight) in crushed form is introduced during the final grinding process upon cooling of clinker. It plays an important role in controlling the rate of hardening or setting of cement. If not added, the cement will set immediately after mixing of water leaving no time for concrete placing Over *0% of Natural Gypsum produced across the world is used in cement manufacturing. Other applications include production of plaster, plasterboards, Gypsum fibreboard and Gypsum blocks. It can also be used as a soil conditioner and has various other specialized applications. An important property of Gypsum is that it is naturally fire-resistant. We source Natural Gypsum directly from mines in Oman, and export to various destinations across the world.
