• Sat-Isabgol is derived from the seeds of plant called 'Plantaqo Ovata'. Sat-Isabgol is also known as Psyllium Husks, Sat-Isabgol, and Ispaqhula. This is an annual herb grown in Gujarat &  Rajasthan States of India.
• Sat-Isabgol is nothing but a filmy upper layer of Isabgol Seeds. It has a significant property of absorbing water and form a bulk mucilage. Its action is purely mechanical and its efficiancy is entirely due to the large quantity of mucilage present in the husks.
• Currently Sat-Isabgol is most oftenly used as a bulk fiber in foods supplements

Medicinal and other uses : The seeds and husks are used in medicinesince ancient times.The ancient Physicians priscribed it for inflammatory and functional derangement of mucous membrane and urinogenetal system. It is sweet, astringent, demulscent, stimulant, laxative, cures blood and mucous dysentery, diarrhea, constipation, dysuria, blood disorder, sex diseases and rheumatism.It reduces blood cholesterol and prevent heart stroke.It contains *0% of mucilage and albuminand small amount of holocids platese. The seeds also show presence of numbers of amino acids in combined forms mainly valine, alanine, glycine, glutanic acid, cyotine, lysine and tyrosine, valine, alanine. The husk and embryonic oil is reported to be the good source of lenoteic acid.
