Scaw's Rolled Products division is one of the largest suppliers of long steel products in South Africa, operating an electric arc furnace to cast steel billets. The billets are then rolled into reinforcing bar, grinding media feedstock, sections, low-carbon wire rod, high-carbon wire rod, reinforcing coil, mining bar and rounds.
These products are sold either externally to a range of customers in the construction and manufacturing industries, or internally to the Grinding Media and Wire Rod Products divisions. Scrap metal is sourced from Scaw's Scrap Processing Division, which operates the largest scrap shredder in Africa. It also has 3 DRI kilns at its disposal to produce iron for consumption in the electric arc furnace.
