India has been a dominant and one of the oldest producers of sesame in the world. Sesame seed provides a traditional source of oil for many communities in India. The country produces around 0.*3 million metric tons of sesame seed annually and is one of the largest in terms of production accounting for *0% of the world output. Sesame meal is the product that remains after oil extraction of sesame seeds & solvent extraction produces a meal that is higher in protein & lower in oil than meals produced by screw press & hydraulic methods. Vitamin levels in sesame meal are comparable with soya bean mean & other oilseeds and are thus used as a valuable ingredient in well formulated poultry feed.
