Soybean Meal is the standard to which other protein sources are compared, and is a by-product of soybean oil extraction. Protein, fiber, and fat levels all vary with the process by which the oil is extracted. Soybean Meal is a highly palatable source of protein, and used often as the dominant source of protein in the rations of most farm animals, including ruminants, pigs, poultry, and aquaculture.

Sunflower seed meal is the by-product of the extraction of oil from sunflower seeds. Sunflower meal is one of the major protein meals used for livestock feeding and particularly for ruminant diets, and under certain conditions for pigs and poultry. Sunflower seed meal is a valuable and safe product, whose protein, fiber and oil contents are highly variable and driven by variations of the oil extraction process.
