Hydrogel Dressing is a new, unconventional mean,facilitating the
treatment of:
- burn wounds
- abrasions
- all kinds of skin damages in which humid medium is favourable
Hydrogel Dressings are an aqueous composition of natural and
synthetic polymers such as: polyvinylopyrrolidone, polyethylene,
glycol and agar.
Due to radiation processing the product is fully sterile. In the
end-use form it represents sheet, 3 mm thick, containing over *0%
of water. To ensure proper mechanical strength the gel is
reinforced by fiber matrix.
Hydrogel dressing is transparency, elastic and flexible, but
mechanically strong enough, absorbs effectively the body fluids and
prevent their loss, acts as an efficient barrier against bacteria,
adheres well to the wound but stronger to healthy skin, enables the
oxygen to penetrate through the volume of dressing to the wound
surface.
The using of Sterile Hydrogel Dressings showed that:
- it cools the burn injury rapidly by heat transfer into
itself, giving feeling of "soothing" action to the sick person
- during the change of the dressing, contaminations,
discharges, fibrin and necrosis tissues are removed
- the dressing protects the wound well against drying and
external infection
- the dressings prevent occuring of overgrowthy scars
- exchange of the dressings is painless
Hydrogel Dressing makes an effective barrier against external
infections as well.
Sterile Hydrogel Dressings have no active ingredients so they are
not classed as a pharmaceutical product, but a class IIb medical
device.
