Known as Sticky rice or Sweet
rice. The special characteristic of glutinous rice is starch in the
kernel that makes it sticky. Its rich of carbohydrate has given
more energy, and it has been a delicious food menu in Thailand's
nationwide.
Thai glutinous rice has been
consumed widely in the North and Eastern parts of Thailand; also
very famous amongst neighboring countries such as Laos, Vietnam,
and Cambodia. Thailand's climate is the best area for cultivation
of glutinous rice; as a result its famous glutinous rice can only
be found in Thailand.
The size and the whiteness of
glutinous grain make it different from other types of rice.
Glutinous rice is often used as an ingredient in sweet dishes and
snack. In addition, glutinous broken rice is mostly used in starch
and brewing industry.
