Davison China has engaged in Medical device design since ***4, started from a dental ultrasonic scaler, a tooth cleaner, which later became a series of dental products during the process of R&D.

For each design, it has to undergo some prescribed procedures to ensure the quality to reach its design criteria. In this case, we have to put a high priority on the ergonomics, the weight and shape of the handle piece, which offers an excellent grip feature and an easier access to adopt the tip properly along the tooth surface. This ergonomic design was highly rated by the dental clinician during the evaluation.

After the first success, we got an assignment to add a dual Reservoirs tank on scaler, which greatly changed the base part. The reservoir was made transparent to give a clear spot on the water level. The redesigned scaler was named co-pilot, and introduced as the next generation of the tooth cleaner.

Shortly after the finishing of co-pilot, another project, dental composite applicator was put on the agenda. The Composite Applicator is the dental equipment for extrusion of warm composites, which let dentists work faster in precision placement of composite material to tooth cavity during restorative procedure.

This project is a difficult one, we encountered the same problem we had in scaler, the ergonomic design of handle piece. Both designs require a handle piece to put into the patients mouth, it must be as smaller and handier as possible to reduce the time of operation and make a better patient experience. As a matter of fact, applicator handle piece has been granted with much more functions as scaler has, heating and extrusion. It is a lot more complicated and challenging on mechanical engineering.

We sit together with bare hands, exchanging ideas, plotting pencil drawings, laying out schematics, figuring engineering labyrinths, fighting with limited time spans and resources, encountering hundreds of technical problems. Finally, we worked out the real working prototypes. Now it is under mass production to quench the requirement of US and EU market.

We had gained the trust from our client, which made us their R & D center. Every year, we sit around the table, scheduling new designs, optimizing old ones. We have both benefited from it, which is our pursuit, serve our clients and make them our long-term partners.

We have also developed X-ray machines, ceiling mounted, C-Arm, digital, and became a renowned designer in X-ray machines. In addition, Surgical Bowel Stapler, navigational instrument of liver operation and etc are within the definition of our design portfolio. Over *0 different medical devices have been on the different stage of development, mass production, design, optimization, under our design procedure or supervision.
