Ayurvastra is a branch of Ayurveda, the ancient 5,**0 year old Indian system of Vedic healthcare. Loosely translated, “ayur” is Sanskrit for health, and “vastra” is clothing ,Ayurvastra means Healthy Fabrics Ayurvastra project is a initiative launched by the Directorate of Handloom, Department of Industries and Commerce and the Department of Government Ayurveda College, aimed at creating a niche for the eco-friendly handloom fabric and to revive the ancient ayurvedic dyeing technolgy on textiles.The main aim of the project is to promote the Handloom sector in the country by introducing an eco-friendly clothes, Ayurvastra fabrics are dyed using natural herbs and plants and and also infused with ayurvedic medicinal solutions.

Inspired by the concept , Mr Sujeev who heads an half century old Handloom Textile firm in balaramapuram ,India teamed with organic cotton producers , Ayurvedic dyeing units , handloom weavers community and Garment units for manufacturing Ayurvastra wellness clothing Ayurvastra dyeing is applied on all natural fibers like cotton , silk , linen, wool , coir , hemp , neetle ,bamaboo to make eco friendly textiles.

How Ayurvastra Protects Environment?

Today major share of chemicals used in the world is sprayed as pesticide for cotton cultivation ,and another major sharer of chemicals is used in textile processing industries ,This chemicals are very toxic and some chemcials even cannot be recycled after the use which is called dyebath, this toxic waste is let out in rivers and land which destroy natual ecology and creating various environmental damages like global warming , acid rain etc... A study revealed that textiles manufactured using some chemicals are very allergic to human body and cause many skin diseases

Whearas in Ayurvastra organic yarn and ayurvedic dyeing method is used, which is an **0% chemical free process , there is no toxic chemicals used,, after dyeing the dye waste can be used as natural manuares for plants , hence ayurvastra protects our environemnt.

Ayurvasta is manufactured by infusing the fabrics in an specially prepared ayurvedic kasayam ,which conain *0+ herbs , the ayurvedic properties in the kasayam is encapsulated permanently in to the yarns or fabrics , on wearing ayurvastra clothing , the properties of the herbs are released to the body and supports the body ability to prevent various diseases , this have been tested in a clinical trail conducted at the Government Ayurveda College , Trivandrum , Kerala , India.
