Purpose of the Design: The tilting rear wheels help balance the bike at slow speeds. Asthe child builds up forward momentum, the wheels shift inward due to decreased weight onthe rear wheels, thus causing the balance to gradually shift from the bicycle to thechild. Shift provides more balance at lower speeds when stability is most critical(starting and stopping), by providing a larger stance. The Shift bicycle features aswinging rear hub, which allows the rear wheels to pitch in and out. The hub allows forthe rear wheels to provide a larger or smaller stance depending on the amount to weighton the rear wheels. An internal belt keeps the drive train away from the children forsafety.
