Heat-shrink tubing, often referred to as heat shrink or heatshrink, is a shrinkable plastic tube used for various purposes in electrical wiring. It serves as an insulator for wires, providing both abrasion resistance and environmental protection for stranded and solid wire conductors, connections, joints, and terminals.

In addition to its insulation properties, heat-shrink tubing can be used as a tool for wire repair. When a wire's insulation is damaged or compromised, a piece of heat-shrink tubing can be placed over the affected area and heated so that it shrinks to fit snugly around the wire, effectively repairing the insulation
