Basically seismic isolation can be defined as reducing the effect of seismic action on the building through placement of isolation units which has high stiffness in vertical direction while very low stiffness in horizontal direction.

The main products of seismic isolation bearings include: lead rubber bearings LRB, linear natural rubber bearings LNR, friction pendulum seismic isolation bearings FPB, high damping seismic isolation rubber bearings HDR , and elastic slide bearings ESB.
They are commonly used in beam bridges, highway bridges, and railroad bridges.
