Pharmacology Action: Secoisolariciresinol diglycoside, is a plant lignan most notably found in flaxseed (linseed). SDG has estrogenic and antioxidant activities. For example, following ingestion, SDG is converted to the aglycone secoisolariciresinol, which is then metabolized to the mammalian lignans enterolactone and enterodiol.
