Battery producer Fabrika Akumulatora Serbia was founded in

The company made a significant technological leap
in ***4 when it adopted the concept of US Globe Union.
The next crucial year in the factory’s history was ***4 when
it launched the production of a new generation of automotive
batteries, based on calcium alloys. Until then, the company had
produced antimony-based batteries in which both plates were made
from a lead-antimony alloy.
A new chapter in the history of the battery producer Fabrika
Akumulatora Serbia finally began in ***6with the
company becoming part of Concern, following a privatisation
process.
A period of intensive investment ensued, resulting in a significant
capacity increase, followed by a higher product quality, broader
production range, introduction of new technologies, cost reduction,
technical and technological modernisation of the factory, as well
as improved working conditions and raised awareness of the
necessity of environmental protection.
Since ***9 Fabrika Akumulatora Serbia has been a member of
Eurobat – an association of European producers of
automotive, industrial and special batteries, i.e. suppliers of
equipment and materials to battery industries.
The company’s core activity is the production of starter
batteries for passenger vehicles and trucks, production of
industrial batteries: traction and stationary ones, and the
production of shotgun lead pellets for hunting ammunition.
The production is focused on lead-acid batteriesand is
divided into a branch dealing with the production of
starterbatteries and another one producing industrial
batteries. Currently, starter batteries, notably brands including
Black horse, Asian horse i White horse, hold a dominant
position from the point of view of business operations, capacity
and production.
As for the industrial programme, the factory focuses on the
production of traction batteries and is intensively engaged in the
adoption of the technology for the production of semi-traction and
stationary batteries.
The factory’s current capacity is **0 **0 batteries a month, but it
is anticipated that the monthly output will soon exceed this
figure.
In the period ***6–***8 the factory adopted the latest world
technology in battery production, namely the calcium-calcium
technology, thanks to new investment and intensive
technological development. This way, the factory joined the ranks
of those producing the latest generation of starter batteries.
Another company feature is the battery sale ratio between the
domestic and foreign markets. Namely, at the time the company was
undergoing privatisation, the ratio in the sale of batteries was
*0:*0 in favour of the domestic market. Today, this ratio stands at
*0:*0 in favour of foreign markets, while at the same time the sale
in the domestic market has maintained its previous level. This data
shows how much effort and knowledge has been invested to make
batteries produced by this company competitive, able to meet the
high standards of the international market, to assert their quality
and obtain a significant market share side by side with well-known
traditional brands in this remit.
Around the end of ***9, Fabrika Akumulatora Serbia launched a brand
new programme – the production of lead shotgun pellets. The
programme started with new equipment and implies the production of
lead pellets for sporting and hunting ammunition. It involves
state-of-the-art equipment and the resulting products meet the
standards of all major markets. The capacity greatly exceeds
domestic needs therefore the company’s major buyers are from Italy,
Spain and France. Fabrika Akumulatora Serbia is a member of the
Association of European Manufacturers of Sporting Ammunition
(AFEMS).
Such intense development has helped the factory to increase its
share in a number of markets, with a tendency of further developing
the factory and increasing its market share and sale in the
existing markets – those of the European Union and Russia.
Along with this huge investment, the company continues to develop
new types of batteries and to apply new technologies, with the goal
of offering end-users a product of constant and continued quality
which has been a distinct feature of this brand for years.
