The solar panel absorbs the energy rays from the sun and converts the energy rays into electricity.  The electricity is routed to a storage battery which stores the energy collected by the solar panel.  When you need to recharge your mobile device, you simply connect it to the battery with the appropriate adapter, and then the energy which is stored in the battery will flow to your mobile device.
