What are Tornilastra metal protection caps designed for?

 Tornilastra STUD BOLT AND NUT PROTECTION CAPS are metal screw-on caps designed to permanently prevent rust and corrosion on industrial stud bolts and nuts by covering and sealing them.

As a matter of fact, when stud bolts are tensioned in any kind of industrial plant, the extended threaded portion that  remains external to the nut is subject to corrosion and accidental damage. This would obviously lead to several problems during assembling, maintenance, replacement and inspection.

Moreover, coating stud bolts and nuts to prevent corrosion may not be enough, as during transportation and handling  the coating on the stud bolt might wear out, and re-coating is a waste of time and money.

Tornilastra metal caps provide a highly-effective defense against rust and corrosion, by covering either the stud bolt thread and nut, or just the stud bolt thread.
Once tightly fixed onto the stud bolts, our metal caps will last for many years.
Tornilastra STUD BOLT AND NUT METAL PROTECTION CAPS are available in two versions:

TYPE 1 – STUD BOLT AND NUT PROTECTION CAPS

TYPE 2 – STUD BOLT PROTECTION CAPS

Both types can be supplied for bolt sizes ranging from Ø ¾” up to 6”, and are compatible with both metric and inch thread sizes (any alteration or non-standard sizes are also available upon request).

Why caps in metal and not plastic ?

Protection caps in metal are far tougher and more resistant than plastic caps, and can withstand higher temperatures.

Tornilastra protection caps are available in ALUMINIUM (anti-static material), STAINLESS STEEL (**4 / **6L) and CARBON STEEL and are suitable for coating, such as cadmium plating and zinc plating, which are in high demand in the Middle East.

It is also worth saying that spun caps are a warranty against cracking and breaking, as sheet metal spinning confers strength and elasticity to all metal components.

How do I fix the metal cap onto the stud bolt?

Tornilastra STUD BOLT AND NUT METAL PROTECTION CAPS are designed to be installed manually, simply screw them tightly onto the stud bolt (please note that a minimum of 4 threads is required for a secure fastening). No extra tools are required, and caps can be easily fixed and removed when needed.

 We manufacture STUD BOLT AND NUT METAL PROTECTION CAPS on the spinning lathe. Once the cap is spun, we create the internal thread according to the customer’s requirement by means of special machinery.

Finally, our QC staff test every single metal cap by screwing it onto a stud bolt of the same size and the same thread required by the customer, in order to be sure that it will fix tightly and withstand pulling and vibrations.
