Red-coloured Anti-Skid (high friction) Thermoplastic road surfacing
material, known as 'Red-Tex', is suited for all classes of roads
and streets where Red coloured surfacing is required, such as in
pedestrian or school-children crosswalks, at bus stops, or taxi
waiting queue lanes, or in front of churches. It is
particularly suited for use on black-top surfaces with texture
depths between 0.5mm and 2mm, and it can also be used on high
stress areas and on high traffic volume areas such as bus lanes and
busy trunk roads.
Several advantages over cold-applied materials:
* suitable for both new and old road surfaces.
* less susceptible to weather extremes, and can be laid all year
round.
* permanent colour.
* rapid curing, typically within *5 to *0 minutes.
* can also be used to repair existing surface defects such as
potholes and wheel ruts.
Red-Tex consists of a red pigmented thermoplastic polymer modified
rosin ester binder with **0% red granite aggregate, and it is
manually applied as hot, using a screed shoe at temperatures
ranging from **0 Celsius to **0 Celsius. Its finished surface
is 4mm to 6mm thickness.
Red-Tex is also a lead-free product that retains its red colour for
its entire extended service life, regardless of traffic
volumes.
It is sold by the metric tonne (1,**0 kg), and shipped on pallets
in ocean containers, direct from Great Britain.
