Polyester resin (Unsaturated Polyester Resin) is a kind of liquid
resin that unsaturated polyester is dissolved by polymeric monomer
having the groups of vinyl or allyl. Polyester resin turns into
insoluble and infusible plastics by hardening through cross-linking
reaction and rising temperature at the room temperature by adding
peroxide catalyst and when it is heated or when it is mixed with
peroxide catalyst and accelerator.
Also, Polyester resin turns into FRP if the resin is spread and
impregnated through reinforced material such as glassfiber by
lamination before it is gelled.
Unsaturated polyester resin holds an important position among
thermosetting resins and its demand is expanding widely for
decorative panels, bathtubs, septic tank, electric insulators,
ships, corrugated panels, and automobile parts, etc.
