Proven features: B-flight and big ears strap
Mistakes while trying to fast decent by B-stall or big ears are now
foolproof by design features. Even in these maneuvers mistakes can
be done if not initiated and performed correctly.
Making big ears, thus the folding in of the wingtips results in a
very stable wing: the wing flies straight fully controllable at a
sink rate from 3 to 5 meters per second, depending on the wing area
folded in. The stability results in a greater angle of attack and
the higher area load. Often trainees and pilots with little
experience mistake the outer A-lines by the outer B-lines the so
called Stabilo line. Or in worst case the outer D-lines.
The BODYGUARD 3 reduces this danger with an assistance feature for
big ears. An extra long thin strap on the riser with distinctive
look ensures easy and effective big ears without any danger of
mistaking. “In trainings we often realize that a newbie in stressed
situations is often confused which line to pull” Instructors state
accordingly. With the special strap we can forget about this
now.
Similar it is with the B-flight system. A B-stall is made by
pulling the B-risers. This leads to a stall on the topsail and the
canopy deforms the profile in length. Advantage: a high sink rate
at about 5 to 8 m/sec. Disadvantage: the wing is not command able
anymore and descends parachutal with additional wind drifts. The
B-flight system offers a new way of descending. In the so called
B-Flight the wing is full completely steerable at a sink rate about
5 meters per second.
Beside these safety features the BODYGUARD 3 offers comfort
features U-Turn customers appreciate and raise the fun flying. E.g.
dirt outs in the wingtip make it easy to remove leaves and dirt out
of the canopy.
The BODYGUARD 3 continues the paradigm change in the design of
paragliders. Despite the safety level is increased, Ernst Strobl
could refine the sport equipment and to progress performance and
agility. As a result the BODYGUARD 3 is not a compromise at all:
the fun flying is based on safety and attractive flight
characteristics
