Silicon carbide (SiC) is made from quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal), wood (it need to add salt for the production of green silicon carbide) and other raw materials. Silicon carbide is also known as Moissanite. Silicon carbide is the most widely used refractory in C, N, B and other high-tech non-oxide refractory raw material, which can be called emery or refractory sand.

Now China's industrial production silicon carbide is divided into black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, Both are hexagonal crystals with specific gravity of 3.*0 - 3.*5, the hard silicon carbide is of ***0 ~ ***0kg / mm2.
