Liquid paraffin is a mixture of circular and chain saturated liquid hydrocarbons also known as mineral oil. This product has no odor, no color and no taste and it is soluble in natural solvents and insoluble in water and alcohol.
Liquid paraffin is classified into three classes, namely industrial, sanitary and oral.
a) Industrial liquid paraffin: This type of paraffin is produced with different flashpoints and it is mainly consumed in textile, spinning and fabric weaving industries. It is widely used as a lubricant of machinery in food industries.
b) Sanitary liquid paraffin: Sanitary paraffin is consumed for producing cosmetics and sanitary products including facial and skin creams, skin softener, cosmetic cleansers and production of wipes.
