Androsterone sulfate (Andros-S) is the most abundant 5
alpha-reduced androgen metabolite in serum. Androsterone sulfate is
clinically recognized as one of the major androgen metabolites
found in urine. It is a cognate substrate for human
dehydroepiandrosterone sulfotransferase, which catalyzes the
transfer of the sulfonate group from
3\'-phosphoadenosine*5\'-phosphosulfate to dehydroepiandrosterone
(DHEA).
