Ritalin (methylphenidate) is a central nervous system
stimulant. It affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that
contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control.
Ritalin is used to treat attention deficit disorder (ADD),
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and
narcolepsy.
