It is used as raw material of medicine, pesticide and dye, and is
an important intermediate of herbicide bentazon.
Starchanthranilate improves retention of inorganic fillers and fine
fibers, as well as dry and tensile strength in paper industry. In
the presence of various solvents and various catalysts, starch
o-aminobenzoic acid esters are prepared by the reaction of starch
and indigo anhydride. The classical method is the reaction of
triethylamine in dimethyl sulfoxide solvent as catalyst.
