Classification of high-voltage cables for electric vehicles: The
core component of new energy electric vehicles is the battery. The
first high-voltage cable used for battery connection in electric
vehicles is a common single-layer high-voltage cable; while the
motor connection needs to prevent signal interference, OMG added
shielded single-layer high-voltage cable in the shielding layer;
due to the harsh environment of electric vehicle applications, OMG
developed a more temperature-resistant, wear-resistant and better
protected double-layer high-voltage cable based on the single-layer
high-voltage cable. Therefore, we divide the high-voltage cables
commonly used in electric vehicles into three categories:
single-layer electric vehicle high-voltage cables, single-layer
shielded electric vehicle high-voltage cables, and double-layer
electric vehicle high-voltage cables.
The high-voltage cable of electric vehicles is used to connect the
charging interface with the battery, inside the battery, and
between the battery and the engine as a carrier for power
transmission. Due to the harsh environment of automotive
applications, the material of high-voltage cables for electric
vehicles plays a very important role and requires very high
performance of the material. This is one of the keys to
high-voltage wire for electric vehicles.
Structural differences of the three types of high-voltage cables:
XLPE, XLPE + tinned copper braid layer. Aluminum foil+shell: XLPE,
bare copper insulation: XLPE outer jacket: XLPE
Single-layer electric vehicle high-voltage cable: mainly used for
the connection between devices without shielding requirements, such
as the connection between livestock batteries.
Single-layer shielded EV high-voltage line; mainly used for
connection between devices with shielding requirements, such as
connection between motor and inverter.
Double-layer electric vehicle high-voltage line: mainly used for
the more serious vibration environment, such as the connection
between battery and high voltage.
