Due to the fact that all materials of this cable are made of
inorganic materials, it has some advantages that other cables
cannot have.
1. Fire resistance
The two materials used in Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable,
copper and mineral insulation, are inorganic. This type of cable
will not burn or support combustion, and can still be operated
under conditions close to the flame. The copper sheath melts at
1083 ℃.
2. High operating temperature
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable can withstand continuous
operating temperature up to 250 ℃. Moreover, in emergency
situations, the cable can continue to operate for a short period of
time at temperatures close to the melting point of the copper
sheath.
3. Long lifespan
Inorganic materials used in Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable can
ensure the stability, long service life and fire resistance of
cables.
4. Explosion resistance
The highly compacted insulating material in Mineral-insulated
copper-clad cable can prevent the passage of steam, gas and flame
between the equipment parts connected to the cable.
5. Small outer diameter
The diameter of Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is smaller than
that of other cables with the same rated current.
6. Waterproof
If Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is completely immersed in
water, Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable can continue to operate
with its seamless metal sheath.
7. High mechanical strength
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is durable and can withstand
severe mechanical damage without damaging its electrical
performance.
8. High carrying capacity
For cables with the same cross section, Mineral-insulated
copper-clad cable transmits higher current than other types of
cables. At the same time, Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable can
also withstand considerable overload.
9. Short circuit fault rating
At the same temperature, the short circuit fault rating of
Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable is obviously higher than that
of other types of cables.
10. Grounding
For Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable, an independent grounding
conductor is not required, because the copper sheath used in this
cable has played the role of grounding conductor and can provide
good low grounding resistance. For grounding sheath loop (ESR)
wiring, the outer copper sheath can be used as grounding and Ground
and neutral in the MEN (multiple grounding neutral) system.
11. High corrosion resistance
The copper sheath of Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable has high
corrosion resistance. For most devices, it does not need to take
additional protective measures. Where the copper sheath of the
cable is prone to chemical corrosion or serious industrial
pollution, the Mineral-insulated copper-clad cable shall be
protected with a plastic outer sheath.
