SFP transceivers are available in a variety of different transmit
and receive types, and users can select the appropriate transceiver
for each connection to provide the "optical performance" achievable
based on the type of fiber available (such as multimode fiber or
single-mode fiber). SFP optical modules can generally be divided
into the following categories [2]:
SX: **0 nm wavelength, transmission distance **0 meters, using
multi-mode fiber (MMF, multi-mode fiber)
LX: ***0 nm wavelength, transmission distance *0 km, using
single-mode fiber (SMF, single-mode fiber)
EX: ***0 nm wavelength, transmission distance *0 km, using
single-mode fiber (SMF, single-mode fiber)
ZX: ***0 nm wavelength, transmission distance *0 nm, using
single-mode fiber (SMF, single-mode fiber)
TX: Electrical port module, using RJ**5 copper cable interface
CWDM: sparse wavelength division multiplexing SFP optical
module
DWDM: dense wavelength division multiplexing SFP optical module
Commercial SFP transceivers are capable of delivering rates up to
4.*5 Gbps. Several packages for *0 Gbps transceivers are XFP, and a
new variant "SFP+" that is basically the same package as
SFP.
According to the speed, it can be divided into the following
types:
**5 Mbps, which is STM*1 in SDH system, optical modules with this
rate are also commonly used in **0 M Ethernet devices;
1.*5 Gbps, optical modules with this rate are also commonly used in
Gigabit Ethernet devices, and are often called Gigabit SFP optical
modules;
*0 Gbps, optical modules with this rate are commonly used in *0
Gigabit Ethernet devices. With the development of optical
communication, more and more optical modules with this rate have
been widely used;
*0 Gbps, the optical module of this rate (QSFP module), there are 4
groups of *0G lights inside to synthesize *0G rate through
CWDM.
PON optical modules are specially used in PON devices, and
generally have different transmission and reception rates, and are
asymmetrical optical modules.
The stick ONU optical module [3] is a new type of SFP transceiver.
This module integrates the functions of the SFP transceiver and the
ONU, and can be inserted into the switch to enable the switch to
access the PON optical network. \
