designated standard issued by Canada for testing flame retardant
fabrics, upholstery materials and
films. These requirements
apply to the performance in flame-exposure tests of flame-resistant
fabrics of natural,synthetic,or combinations of natural and
synthetic fibres,or plastic films intended for such use as
tents,awnings,draperies,or
decorations.

Test method for
CAN/ULC-S**9 test: The CAN/ULC
S**9(R***9) test method includes a small flame test and a large
flame test, and flame retardant fabrics and films should meet the
requirements for both small and large flame

TEST
The test specimens
shall be placed in a metal.
Each specimen shall
be suspended with its lower end *0mm above the centre of the
opening of a Bunsen burner having a tube of 9.5mm inside
diameter.
The flame shall be
applied near the middle of the lower end of the specimen for *2s
and then withdrawn.
LARGE-FLAME
TEST
The bottom of the
specimen shall be **0mm above the centre of the opening of a Bunsen
burner having a 9.5mm inside diameter
tub.
The gas supply to be
the burner shall be either natural or methane
gas.
