1. Product Introduction
(1) Acrylic acid is the simplest unsaturated carboxylic acid. Its
molecular structure is composed of one vinyl group and one
carboxyl group. Pure acrylic acid is a colorless clear liquid
with characteristic pungent smell. Density 1.***1. Melting point:
*4 ℃. Boiling point **0.9 ℃. Strong acidity. Corrosive. Soluble
in water, ethanol and ether. Chemically active. Easy to
polymerize into transparent white powder. Propionic acid is
formed during reduction. *-chloropropionic acid is formed when it
is added with hydrochloric acid. It is used for preparing acrylic
resin and other organic synthesis. It is prepared by oxidation of
acrolein or hydrolysis of acrylonitrile, synthesis of acetylene,
carbon monoxide and water, or pressurized oxidation of ethylene
and carbon monoxide.
(2) Acrylic acid can undergo the characteristic reaction of
carboxylic acid, and the corresponding esters can also be
obtained by reacting with alcohol. The most common acrylates
include methyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and
*-ethylhexyl acrylate.
(3) After acrylic acid and its esters are mixed with itself or
other monomers, polymerization will occur to form homopolymers or
copolymers. Generally, monomers that can be copolymerized with
acrylic acid include amides, acrylonitrile, vinyl containing
monomers, styrene and butadiene. These polymers can be used to
produce all kinds of plastics, coatings, adhesives, elastomers,
floor polishes and coatings.
2. Usage
Acrylic acid and its series products, mainly its esters, have
developed rapidly in recent years. For example, ethylene,
propylene, vinyl chloride and acrylonitrile have developed into
important raw materials for polymer chemical industry. Acrylic
acid and its esters as monomers of polymer compounds, the world's
total output has exceeded 1 million T, and the output of polymer
and copolymer (mainly emulsion type resin) produced by it is
nearly 5 million T. These resins are widely used in coatings,
plastics, textiles, leather, papermaking, building materials,
packaging materials and many other departments. Acrylic acid and
its esters can be used for organic synthesis and polymer
synthesis, and most of them are used for the latter, and are more
copolymerized with other monomers, such as vinyl acetate, styrene
and methyl methacrylate, to prepare synthetic tree esters with
various properties, functional polymer materials and various
additives.
3. Application
(1) Warp sizing
Warp sizing agent prepared from acrylic acid, methyl acrylate,
ethyl acrylate, acrylonitrile, ammonium polyacrylate and other
raw materials can desize and save starch than polyvinyl alcohol
sizing agent.
(2) Adhesive
The copolymer latex of acrylic acid, methyl acrylate, ethyl
acrylate and *-ethylhexyl acrylate can be used as the adhesive
for electrostatic flocking and wool planting. It has good
firmness and hand feel.
(3) Water thickener
A high molecular weight powder was prepared from the copolymer of
acrylic acid and ethyl acrylate. It can be used as thickener in
oil field. It can increase **0t crude oil per ton of product, and
has good oil recovery effect for old wells.
(4) Coated paper finishing agent
Using acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, *-ethylhexyl acrylate,
styrene and other quaternary copolymer latex as coated paper
coating has the advantages of color retention, no yellowing, good
printing performance, no roll adhesion, better than styrene
butadiene latex, and can save dry pigment
(5) Polyacrylates use acrylic acid to produce various
polyacrylate products (such as ammonium salt, sodium salt,
potassium salt, aluminum salt, nickel salt, etc.). Used as
coagulant, water treatment agent, dispersant, thickener, food
preservative, acid-base resistant desiccant, softener and other
polymer additives.
