Properties: yellowish-brown or black block solid, pure calcium carbide is colorless crystals(containCaC2 higer is purple).

Often a result of calcium carbide with arsenic (Ca3 As2), phosphating calcium (Ca3 P2) and other impurities and water released at the same time the role of arsenic hydrogen(AsH3), phosphine (PH3) and other toxic gases,the use of calcium carbide produced by the acetylene toxic. (must passconcentrated H2SO4 and chromic acid potassium lotion to remove)

Purposes ;

1.Production of acetylene;

2.Other purposes

(1)The reaction of calcium carbide and water in many organic compounds can be synthesized acetylene. For example: synthetic rubber,artificial resins,acetone,ketene,carbon black,etc:an oxygen acetylene flame also widely used in metal welding and cutting.

(2)Heating powdered calcium carbide and nitrogen, the reaction of calcium cyanamide,that lime nitrogen,heating lime and salt,the reaction of nitrogen andcyanide for gold mining andnon-ferrous metals metals melt industry.

(3)Calcium carbide,iron and steel industry itself can be used for the desulfurization agent.
