The
Easy-Opening End (EOE) contains a scored region and a pull tab
that can be leveraged to open the hole (by pushing the scored
region into the can).
The end is
usually an aluminum alloy with magnesium. They are stamped out
from a flat sheet and formed in a single operation. The pull tab
is made from a similar alloy, and the tiny rivet that connects
the two is made from a softer alloy. The EOEs are assembled
before the end is attached to the can.
Pull tabs are
either coloured or inkjet coded. The Pierce-Thru-Tab provides
permanent non-erasable markings in the shape of logos,
alpha-numeral, and symbols, functioning as excellent and
effective promotional tools to promote brands.
