3. Product Application
One of the main applications of Hypromellose is a performance additive in gypsum-based or cement-based construction materials. For construction they act as binders, thickeners, firm formers and retention agents.

Hypromellose added to mortar dry mixes to improve the mortars properties such as workability, open and adjustment time, water retention, viscosity, adhesion to surfaces, vertical surface slip-resistance etc.

High viscosity types of Chenghao exhibit excellent water retention. In the construction industry, the addition of Chenghao reduces the tendency of water to seep away from gypsum- or cement-containing formulations into porous substrates. This improves workability as it reduces burning.
