Palm oil is an edible vegetable oil. It is derived from the mesocarp of the fruit of the oil palms. It is mostly grown in the tropical countries. The oil is used in food manufacturing, in beauty and cosmetic products, and as biofuel. Palm oil accounted for about *3% of global oils produced from oil crops. Palm oils are easier to stabilize and maintain quality of flavor and consistency in processed foods, so are frequently favoured by food manufacturers. On average globally, we consumed about 7.7 kg of palm oil per person.
