Portland cement Type 1, also called ordinary port land cement or OPC is used in general construction projects as well as in the manufacturing of concrete products. It is used in all construction projects which do not require exposure to sulphuric acid or under ground water. It is the most commonly available cement in the market.

Portland cement type 2, with less heat of hydration as compared to portland cement type 1 as well as low alkali contents and moderate sulphur resistance, the product is used in large size structures and able to prevent cracks and erosions caused by the sea water, salt and alkalis. The general uses are described as follows:

Under ground foundation projects, basement of high rise buildings, tunnels, under passes, bridges, dams etc.
