propylene glycol alginate, PGA is a kind of new-style excellent
food additive. It is made of alginic acid by deeply processing
which is extracted from natural brown seaweed. PGA is white or
yellow powder, almost tasteless or a liitle fragrance, soluble in
water and forms sticky and collloidal solution, in soluble in
ethanol and other arganic solvent.
Besides its thickening function, and because of its hydrophilism
and lipophilicity, PGA has emulsifying ability and can be as foam
stabilizer. It can steady the ioly gel and PGA has acid
fastness.Because PGA is non ionic compound, it is stable to metal
ions and will not solidify or separate out.
