Corn oil (also called Maize oil) is extracted from the genii of corn (maize).
Mainly used in cooking, where its high smoke point makes it an excellent frying oil.
It is also an ingredient in various margarines. In general it is less expensive than most other types of vegetable oils. As an ingredient of biodiesel it shows its versatility. Other industrial uses include soap, paint, rust proofing for metal surfaces, inks, textiles, nitroglycerin, and insecticides. In pharmaceutical preparations It is sometimes used as a carrier of drug molecules . It is a concentrated source of energy, easily digested, and a rich source of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
