NPAM, a linear polymer as a result of homopolymerization of acrylamide, enjoys high molecular weight and extremely low ionicity. Its high structural purity and good solubility makes it an excellent flocculant, dispersant, thickener, binder, film-former, gel and colloid stabilizer. and its flocculation performance is affected by the PH value and the salt is small, especially suitable for acidic wastewater treatment. NPAM is especially suitable for acidic wastewater treatment because its flocculability performance is little affected by PH value and salts. NPAM is used as a flocculant in acidic suspension in sewage treatment, and works best if combined with inorganic flocculant; in textile industry, it is used as a sizing agent for textile sizes; in soil and water conservation, it can be used in sand fencing and as a soil moisturizer; it can also be one of the raw materials of building glues and interior wall coatings, among others.
