Turmeric, curcuma longabelongs to the ginger family
& is an ancient spice that was used over ***0 years ago in
vediccooking & religious rituals. Native to the tropical
parts of south east asia, it’s used today for dying cloth (eg.
hinduholy robes) and as a spice. It’s produced in
china and surrounds, australia, sri lanka, java, the west indies
and peru where the roots (rhizomes) are boiled for hours on
end, dried in ovens and ground into a deep orange-yellow
powder more often used in spicy asian and middle eastern foods
