Kola nuts are bitter
caffeine-containing chestnuts from an evergreen Kola tree. There
are two major varieties of kola; kola nitida and kola acuminita.
Kola nuts naturally have red, white and yellow color. They become
brown when dried. Kola nut extract is used in the manufacturing of
beverages and foodstuffs. Kola nuts contain 2% to 4% of
caffeine, Kolanin and theobomine. They have many beneficial
